Kicking off the (almost) summer season with some of our favorite travel books. We’re looking to expand our collection (especially to other continents). Any suggestions? Tag your travel posts with #travelbooksforchildren on Instagram so we can build a collection to explore and wander through together.
otto the book bear
Otto is not your ordinary bear, but bears found in storybooks these days rarely are. At night, he leaves his storybook home, clambers down the bookshelves and goes exploring. He likes to read his favorite stories and practice writing on his family's typewriter. One fateful day, he somehow gets left behind. Sad but excited by the promise of adventure, he sets out into the big, wide world in search for a new place to live. Nothing feels like home until he finds "a place that looked full of light and hope." Can anyone guess where he ends up?
there's a tiger in the garden
In There's a Tiger in the Garden, Nora is skeptical about her grandmother's claim about a tiger living in her garden, but she soon discovers that there are more strange creatures that await her and Jeff, her stuffed giraffe. Lizzy Stewart's lush, vibrant and textured jungle draws you in so much that you almost hear the rustling of leaves and chirping of birds as Nora traipses through her grandmother's wild and magical garden.
the storm whale
We just might be the last ones on earth to read The Storm Whale by Benji Davies. One of the best stories we've read in awhile--heartwarming and poignant to the nth degree. Seek it out if you haven't read it yet—hard not to fall in love with this one.

From my post on Honest to Nod today. With the end of the school year upon us, I’m sharing a way to make summer reading more fun. Nosh inspired by the wonderful team at Super Make It!
