nate's 5th birthday

Nate turned five recently and we celebrated with a Totoro party.  Here’s what we threw together:

—Totoro and catbus cupcakes by Candy Clay Cupcakes.  Such beautiful and meticulous work—I was really blown away this time!

—Soot sprite truffles made with ganache and Sweet Estelle’s chocolate sprinkles and royal icing eyes.  Inspired by the ones on Tinned Tomatoes (Thank you to Sweet Estelle for sending these for Nate's party!)

Acorns made with mini Nilla wafers, Hershey's Kisses and chocolate chips

—Green tea-flavored Pocky

—Chocorooms and chocolate horns by Meiji

—Macarons from ‘Lette Macarons

Felt garlands from The Land of Nod

Felt leaves from Woolhearts on Etsy

Happy birthday to our little Nate!

gift box

And for the last detail of Avery's birthday gift from my cousin Amy (featured on Monday's post): its monogrammed gift box.  Amy used IKEA reversible wrapping paper and cut out an "A" to adorn her gift box.  Simple and very cute!

thank you cards

These are little thank you cards that I made for Avery's birthday last year and this year. The last image (taken with my iPhone, btw) was how we packaged them up this year before giving out--with a sprinkle of Papabubble candy! The thank you cards were inspired by this blog entry on inchmark.

more birthday favors

These are some simple favors I made for the last little celebration of Avery's 2nd birthday.  (Btw, this photo was snapped with my iPhone because I was in a hurry.)  I punched holes in nut & party cups, tied and knotted grosgrain ribbon on each side to make a handle, filled each cup with some Valentine's Starbursts and a stretchy dinosaur from Target and voilà!  Favors!
